A Campfire in August?

You know, we do live in the South. It's the end of August and it should be getting cooler. But, since we live in Georgia, it's not getting any cooler- it's getting hotter. So, what better way to celebrate Labor Day and the intense heat but by building a fire? Because it's just not hot enough by itself.

I have a fear of fire. I have always hated it. But, my children love it. They dance around it and poke it and feed it and just revel in it- even in the 90 DEGREE HEAT!

And what fire would be complete without roasting marshmallows? Personally, I found it to be too hot to even stand there roasting, but the children loved it. Over and over and over, they stuck those marshmallows on their sticks and burned them to a crisp. I tried to show them the art of getting them golden brown, but the lesson was lost.

"Hmm,I wonder if this stick will do for roasting marshmallows?"

"Mommy, can a marshmallow catch on fire?"

Overall, a good time was had by all. Even if it was a little warm...
