Restraint

I must blog about my incredible restraint this afternoon. Today, Leah and I were watching Brady run (painfully) in Cross Country. We decided to leave a little early so I could get to work on time. As I was talking to the coach about the practice meet on Thursday, I was walking towards the car. All of the sudden, Leah began screaming. Then Brady began jumping and yelling. Finally, I understood (as I went over to help them) the problem. We were standing on a yellow jacket nest. Now, I must tell you that I don't cuss as a general rule. I believe very strongly in the power of parents modeling behavior for their children. Plus, I'm an extreme introvert and I loathe attracting attention to myself. As the yellow jackets swarmed around us and began stinging, I had to try to divide myself between Brady and Leah while ignoring my own stings. If I was ever going to cuss in front of the children (and other peoples children), this would be the time. There we were, standing in front of the entire cross country team. Not. One. Word. did I say. Aren't you proud? I realize that this might be a simple thing to be proud of, but DADGUM did those suckers hurt. Since I'm allergic, I'm still in quite a bit of pain. The children seem fine now though so that's good. That just goes to show that a determined parent can accomplish anything for the good of her child.

Wow! Impressive. I accidentally cursed when yer hotdog started chasing Maverick the other day. Leah was there but was occupied with my guitar. Whew! Thank God!

Yes. That's right... The heavenly "SnotJack" song saved me and Leah from utter shame and destruction...

Amen.
